What Olive Tree, in Romans 1 1, Represents – and how it Speaks, of God’s Plan For Israel, and the Church

Saturday, 2 4 July 2 0 1 0.

One of my hobbies, is growing things in the garden. Although I am not an expert, on grafting, I happen to know – how you can do these things. This includes:

– Grow a Broken Plant

– Grow from the Same Tree, or Bush.

Therefore, this Blog uses these learnt things of mine, in helping us to understand – the Point God was making, much better.

By the way, this whole Blog, explains Romans chapter 1 1 verses 1 1 to 2 6 – VERY WELL.

So what Paul wrote, in Romans chapter 1 1 verse 1 7 to 2 7, about the return of Israel to God – makes perfect sense! Even more, it makes sense, now that we are in the year of 2 0 2 0.  We will now read these verses. This whole subject, appears over the next 1 1 lines, in Pink and red.

Here is, Romans chapter 1 1: 1 7 to 2 7

“ And if some of the Branches be Broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree – were grafted in among them, and with them taking of the root and fatness, of the olive tree;

Boast not against the Branches.  But if you Boast, you bear not the root, but the root bears you.

You will say then. The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

Well, because of unbelief they were broken off, and You stand by Faith.  Be not high-minded, but fear:

For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed, or he also will not spare you.

Behold therefore, the goodness and severity of God.  On them which fell, severity.  But toward you, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness. Otherwise, you also shall be cut off.

And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in.  For God is able, to graft them in again.

For if you were cut out of the olive tree, which is wild by nature, and were grafted (contrary to nature) into a good olive tree – how much more shall these, which be the natural Branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

For I would not want, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery – lest you should be wise in your own conceits, that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

And so all Israel shall be saved.  As it is written, there shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness – from Jacob:

For this is my covenant, unto them, when I shall take away their sins “.

The scriptures do not teach Nonsense.  But sometimes we are given allegories, like:  “Beast with 7 heads”  In that case of “Beast with 7 heads”,  an explanation to this allegory, is given.

I believe, that unless a different type of explanation, is given to an allegory – there is usually a very clear understanding given.

In this case, the clear understanding, must be taken literally. We must use, God given common sense. Example, the Parables of Jesus.

For example,  Romans 1 1 verse 1 7, would not make sense – unless an explanation from God is given.  We should interpret the Verse to say.  A Whole WILD Olive Tree, is grafted into the CULTIVATED Olive Tree!

Israel Judaism people, are known as the Cultivated Olive Tree.  The Gentiles (non Jewish), are known as the Wild Olive Tree.  These are two trees, which have separate roots, as separate entities.

Let us now consider, Romans 1 1 verse 2 4.

“After all, you may have been cut out of a wild Olive Tree, that is wild by nature – and contrary to nature, were grafted into a Cultivated Olive tree.  How much more readily, will the WILD Natural Branches, actually be grafted back – into their Own Cultivated Olive Tree!“

Can you take the roots, of Two Trees, and make them become One Tree?   Romans 1 1 above, describes and discusses, Two Separate Trees. That is: a Cultivated Olive Tree and a Wild Olive Tree.

It clearly states that the Natural Branches, not root or Whole Tree, were cut off – to make way for Wild Branches. That is Gentile Branches.

In Romans 1 1,  verse 1 7:  it states

“And if some of the Branches be Broken off, and you, being a (wild) Olive Tree – were grafted in among them, you took the Root and Fatness of the (Cultivated) Olive Tree“.

Some rightly suggest, that this is referring, to the Whole Cultivated Olive Tree. That is Israel.  I now explain. The word whole, always refers to Israel, and not the Gentiles – known as Branches.

It mentions “Tree” here, and not “Branch”.   Tree is Israel and Branch relates to the Gentiles.    Note: Gentiles, are outside Israel. When it mentions the Temporal Branch, it is referring to Temporal Gentiles and not Israel.

The Wild Tree, is made up of all Gentiles. They are Wild. The Olive tree, relates to Israel.

The Believing Gentiles, are those grafted in, as Branches – but are not the Olive Trees. They are brought in to salvation, as extras, but not as originals.  But the part of Israel, that believed in Jesus, are still the originals. They are already part of the Cultivated Tree.

Those who are not Israel, are the grafted in extras. They are the “Branch” of the tree, and are “Not the Whole Tree”.

Incidentally, one scripture says, that Jesus hung on a Tree.  But we can see, as clearly written, that it was not a whole Tree.  Remember, Jesus died for the whole of mankind, including the Gentiles – and not just for the Jews.

This conclusion, is taking the whole teaching of scripture, into much better context.  I mention again, Romans 1 1, verse 2 4.

“After all, you were CUT OUT of a Wild Olive Tree, that is Wild by nature. Contrary to nature, could be grafted into a Cultivated Olive Tree.  How much more readily, will your natural Wild branches,  ACTUALLY be grafted back – into their Own Cultivated Olive Tree?“

In our days now, after Jesus came, the Gentiles were added in to salvation, but not as originals.  Remember, Jews are naturally born of God, but Gentiles are not.  They need a different type of Salvation.

Having established this, let us now take this, to the next level – and see what God’s future plan is, for Israel, and the Jewish people.  Is there now, a special different plan for the Jews, compared with the  Non Jewish Gentiles?

God’s Olive Tree, has been “Cultivated”, whereas the other Weaker Wild Tree – is “NOT”.  I ask this question? Is it the Root that Supports the Olive Tree, or the Ground soil?

Surely the main Life, comes from the Ground soil, and the moisture is within the soil? That tells me, that the main Life of the Plant, comes from the Soil – with after help from the Root.  These Two need to be working together.

Please note, that the Branches are too weak, outside the Cultivated Olive Tree.  The WILD Olive Tree, is not the Olive Tree.  So without Cultivated Olive Tree, people can die very easily. This is why the Branches, need to be restored back to life safely, by being connected to the Cultivated Olive Tree.

So that must mean, that the soil is the Life of God.  It says, the Olive Tree of God, is Cultivated – whereas the Wild Olive Tree, is not Cultivated.  It now relies totally, on the Best Olive Tree, for its Cultivation.

This means, that the Wild growth, does not get its normal whole Spiritual Life from God – but the Cultivated growth does! The Wild one, may even get its energy, from terrible godless sources.

We read in 1 John 5, that those outside Christ, are under the control of the evil one.

The Root of the Cultivated Olive Tree, is surely God’s Kingdom on Earth, which was initially Israel. This was Fed by God, through the Life of the Holy Spirit. The whole Olive Tree, contains the Jewish Saints/Believers. That is, the People of God, within.

They initially started, as just Jews.  But then later on, both Jews and saved Gentiles became the Olive Tree Together.  They are those, who trust in Jesus as Messiah. The Branches, are the individual Gentile people of God. That is, the Non Jewish believers.

If we take the whole of Romans 1 1 into consideration, we come to these next conclusions.  Individual Jewish Believers, and non Jewish believers, are from The Two Olive Trees.

Those of Jewish people, who don’t believe in the Messiah Jesus, do not belong to that Good Olive Tree.  We are informed, that the reason for all this, is that Jewish unbelievers, were cut out of that Tree – to make room for Gentile Believers. These Gentiles, are to be Grafted in, not normally.

I will now reveal the above, much more clearly now, to us – in the below section – as revealed in Romans 1 1.  This only highlights, the Verses, that discuss this subject.

Romans 1 1: 1 1 – 2 6.

“ 1 1.  Salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make Israel envious.

1 2.  But if their transgression means riches for the World, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches – will their full inclusion bring!

1 3.  I am talking to you Gentiles.  Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry.

1 4.  This in the hope, that I may somehow arouse my own people Jews, to envy – and save some of them.

1 5.  For if Jews rejection, brought reconciliation to the Gentile world, what will their acceptance be – but life from the dead? 

1 6.  If the part of the dough, offered as first fruits, is holy –  then the whole batch is holy.  If the root is holy, so are the branches.

1 7.  Some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot – have been grafted in among the others. You now share in the nourishing sap, from the olive root.

1 8.  Do not consider yourself to be superior, to those other branches.  If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 

1 9.  You will say then, “Branches were broken off, so that I could be grafted in.” 

2 0.  Granted.  But they were broken off, because of unbelief, and you stand by faith.  Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 

2 1.  For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

2 2.  Consider therefore, the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness.  Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 

2 3.  And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.

2 4.  After all,  you were cut out of an olive tree (that is wild by nature), and contrary to nature – were grafted into a Cultivated Olive Tree.  How much more readily, will these the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

2 5.  I do not want you to be ignorant, of this mystery brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited:  Israel has experienced a hardening in part, until the full number of the Gentiles, has come in.

2 6.  In this way, all Israel will be saved. “

This above, covers Chapter 1 1, verses 1 1 to 2 6.

The above is saying, that those Jewish people, who rejected Jesus – were not allowed into God’s Kingdom. But later, those Jewish people who receive Jesus, will be Treated much better – and will be welcomed in.

The Church, have never ever, totally replaced Israel.  God has not ever, totally let Israel leave the body of Christ, without restoring them sometimes.  None of the Old and New Testament prophesies, refer only to the Gentile church.  There is far too  much reference to the Jews, and Israel.

Much of the Scriptures, and the whole Bible (in context), is actually and specifically speaking – of the Nation of Israel, and the Jewish people, as being saved in completion later.

The Scriptures, are mostly NOT referring to the Church, but to ISRAEL.  In the Bible,  Romans 1 1 says, the Gentiles were grafted INTO the Jewish Olive Tree.  The Olive Tree still exists, as it did in Old Testament times, and will always exist – as long as this Earth exists.

A time is coming, when the Jewish People will return to Jesus, in repentance – and accept Jesus as their Messiah.  At such time, they will be Grafted back, into their Own Tree.

There is a warning, that a latter time will come, when the Gentiles will become too arrogant – over their inclusion in the Olive Tree.  They will stop believing. These Gentiles will hold, to a form of godliness, but Deny the Power.

This started happening, in many Church places, since the year 2 0 0 0.  We may now be in, those very end times, on Earth.

It says that a time will come, when the “Time of the Gentiles” comes to an end.  When this time happens, then the whole of Israel, will have a chance – to be saved again, because of the Gentiles unbelief.

Romans 1 1, gives reference to Jeremiah 3 1.  This talks about God making a New covenant, with the House of Israel.  I have already spent time, going through all this, with you.  Some say, that Jeremiah is referring to the Christian Church, but please read verse 37 which says:

“This is what the LORD says:  “Only if the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below be searched out, will I reject all the descendants of Israel  – because of all they have done,”  declares the LORD”.

All the Descendants of Israel, belong only to ISRAEL.  They are not the Church.  It says:  “All that they have done”.  This includes their unbelief, wickedness and rejection – of Messiah Jesus.

It cannot be referring to the “Saved Church”, because their sins had been washed clean, by the blood.  But the same thing, was never experienced, by those living in Old Testament Times.

Look at David, who lived in Old Testament times, before Jesus came. God said David was blameless, even though he had sinned greatly against the Lord. David was blameless, because God had Forgiven him.

I will now explain briefly, why David was so special in God’s sight.  David was a Powerful Person, on Earth at that time.  He regularly put God first, in all that he did.  Everything he did, was normally, very wonderful.  David was recognised, as the greatest follower of God on Earth, before Jesus came.

Most of the Prophets, talk about a time, when Israel will again be brought back – into the Olive Tree. That is, these Prophets.

– Isaiah

– Jeremiah

– Ezekiel

– Zechariah

These above, are the most vocal, on Israel being brought back.  Romans 1 1 verse 1 2 and verse 1 5 say:  “How much greater riches, will their fullness bring”.  and  “What will their acceptance be, but life from the dead?”.

This will be, at the very end of time, during the very last 7 years. This is just before, the final return of Jesus, to start the 1 0 0 0 years of His Reign. This will be a time, when Israel finally say:  “Blessed is HE, who comes in the Name of the Lord”

The Church will experience, a massive inflow of Jewish believers, joining it.

Hi John

It has occured to me that the heirarchy of Purpose Driven’ and ‘Emergent’are indeed boasting, but if that is against the branches, I’m not sure? Certainly against God.

As I have said previously, this lying deception may be in line for a series of ‘heavy pruning’ one way or the other, as they are undoubtedly mocking God and leading astray the inexperienced and vulnerable.

Further, I have been considering something rather troubling. I am not a prophet – I am not saying ‘thus saith The Lord’; but I have been rather tentatively, holding something before the Lord!

P.D. and Emergent MAY be going to self destruct from the inside out? This over sexual sin, and general immorality, that will flare up like tall flames of fire from their midst. In particular, among those in leadership positions.

In any event, God is not mocked, and he will not strive with them for much longer.

IF true, many souls will be as those ‘lost at sea’ struggling blindly to survive. IF this happens – Big IF- then we must be ready to snatch them from dark depths, to pray for them and make plain the truth to them.

I have one reservation, in what you are saying.  I now discuss the Emerging Church, and the whole emerging ecumenical movement. This is now joining itself, to all religions,  under the Tony Blair initiative – which proves to be the whore of Babylon.  It will get stronger and stronger, and especially after the rapture.

My own feeling, is that it is the whore, and is readying itself – to accept the Anti-Christ.

God will judge it, and it will fall, but probably not until after the revealing of Anti-Christ.  However, if the whore shows itself, as another organisation – then I would agree with you.

I am wondering, why you feel God is showing you, it will fail?  You seem to believe, this strong movement, to be the whore – before?

I haven’t been very clear have I!

I don’t think PD and E will fall ‘to rise no more’, I am with you regarding the whore. As I said, I am not a prophet, I may be totally wrong. However in my past experience with all cults, and they ARE cults, sexual sin has always made itself known eventually.

There are many that are led astray whose hearts are genuine before The Lord, but deceived by this apostasy. It is these people who I feel would be severely jolted by such revelations.

No doubt ‘it’ will carry on regardless in similar vein as that heretical Bentley chap (is it Todd?) with other leaders making excuses for him. The foolish no doubt continue to follow them like Lemming’s.

Those who would be shaken awake by this, as in the past, will be at first numbed by the shock. Especially if they are close to those involved. Later they have become very upset, even angry. It may not happen, I have no evidence that it will, but I will be surprised if the old pattern doesn’t present itself eventually (isn’t that the way of a whore?)

When you see ALL these things LOOK UP for our redemption draws near.

Also, just to repeat that this thread on the tree is great – do you know, I thought it was a Vine, not an Olive? I must re-read that Scripture more carefully. The principle still applies!

Hi John

I’m sorry if I have been confusing you. I did know Romans 11 was about the Olive Tree; you were perfectly correct and I haven’t got a clue why I thought it was the Vine. I think I did warn you that my concentration is poor at present?

I have been trying to find the Scripture about the Bema seat judgment and its timing, but my mind keeps hitting a ‘brick wall’. Maybe I’ve got brain strain? Advice from hubby ‘get an early night’, I think I am confusing him as well?

Persecution of Messianic Jews in Israel is Getting Worse

A court case has been going on for the past 5 year, after there was a riot against a Messianic congregation while it was holding services.

This congregation which is in Beer Sheva, Israel, was attacked by approximately 200 extremist orthodox Jews, who destroyed the congregation as congregants were inside!

Once inside the building, the mob of ultra-orthodox Jews threw chairs and other items, damaged audiovisual equipment and threw equipment and other items into the Mikvah (baptismal pool) and pushed the Messianic Leader of the congregation, Howard Bass into the pool as well.

Police were called to the scene but could not control the crowd. This group of orthodox Jewish men, were totally out of control and were on a mission to terrorize the congregation.

Two years later in 2007, Messianic leader Howard Bass filed suit for inciting this riot against Yehuda Deri, who is the chief Sephardic rabbi in the city of Beer Sheva, and Yad L’Achim, an anti-missionary organization that fights against Messianic Jews in Israel.

This year, the court ruled…. Can you believe it, AGAINST the Messianic Jewish congregation! That’s right!

After the Believers in Yeshua were faced with a riot in their congregation which was videotaped, the court ruled in favor of the extremist ultra-orthodox Jews. The nation of Israel is against Yeshua (Jesus) and anyone who believes in Him.

The verdict was “totally distorted,” and there are strong legal grounds for an appeal, but I do not believe it is God’s will to appeal the court, Howard Bass said.

I want to show you how extreme persecution against the Believers in Yeshua can be.

Just days before the riot, Yad L’Achim sent out a strong rallying call that there was going to be a “Christian” water immersion (mikvah) service (baptism) taking place. This drew the ultra-orthodox out to storm the Messianic congregation.

After the riot, on a talk radio program Yehuda Deri, the chief Sephardic rabbi proudly spoke about the incident of the riot with great pride of how many people showed up to protest the Messianic Jews.

A couple of years earlier, about 1,000 protestors went to the same congregation during a service and threw rocks and spit on congregants.

Howard Bass and his wife Howard Bass said that the court’s verdict is a “message from God” that injustice toward Jews who accept Jesus as the Messiah is now the “state of things” in Israel.

And here’s the crux! The judge ordered Bass to pay a fine to the defendants and cover their legal expenses for a total of approximately 155,000 shekels (US$40,123). This is outrageous.

Howard Bass said the verdict may embolden those who want to attack Messianic Jews in Israel. At minimum, he said, the verdict leaves open the potential for future violence.

Bass continued saying that Jesus’ trial was the perfect example of a public defeat and a travesty of justice that God used in a great way.

Thanks for the news article.  It is appropriate in this section, because it shows how some Jewish People, are returning to the cultivated Olive tree – whereas others, show how cut off they are.

It is almost like reading the Book of Acts, all over again.  It seems the religious Jews, still behave in the same way, against believers.

Let us all pray, for the protection of our brothers and sisters, and God’s intervention – against the opposition.
